Students engaged in a 5 week research project, where they initially researched the rise and fall of Rome. They were then assigned a local community, and found similarities and differences of their community and Rome. They were to identify a main “weakness” in their community, and compare it to the reasons Rome eventually fell. In groups, they created a proposal to prevent their community from falling, such as Rome did. They then came dressed professionally and presented their proposals to a city planner, fellow peers, and staff.
